Eaton 5S 700VA is designed to protect computers/workstations in offices from major power supply issues: high-voltage spikes, electromagnetic and radio frequency interference, voltage sags, surges, and complete power outages. The UPS features a standard design and is supplied, like most UPS units, with computer sockets. Some of the sockets are battery-protected, while others provide filtering for additional equipment that requires it. The regulating autotransformer ensures a specified level of output voltage. The Powerware series 5 UPS, including the Eaton 5S 700VA, has a built-in autotransformer. The autotransformer adjusts the output voltage when the network voltage changes – in the case of excessive voltage increase, the autotransformer reduces the output voltage to an acceptable level, and in the case of excessive voltage decrease, it increases it. The autotransformer maintains a specified level of output voltage during fluctuations in network voltage from the nominal. A wide range of permissible network voltages reduces the number of instances where the UPS switches to battery mode and significantly extends the battery life.
